Hydrogenated resin

Foral 85

Foral 85 resin is the glycerol ester of highly hydrogenated wood rosin. It is an exceptionally pale thermoplastic resin that has outstanding resistance to oxidation and to discoloration caused by heat and aging.

Key properties

Foral 85 resin can be used as a tackifier resin in various types of adhesives, and in protective and barrier type coatings that require an exceptional degree of color retention and oxidation resistance.

It is particularly effective in tackifying acrylic PSA formulations.

Applications

  • Tackifier resin for pressure sensitive adhesives used for tapes, labels, medical appliances, and specialty applications
  • Tackifier resin in lamination of metal foil, paper, cloth, cellophane, and cellulose acetate films
  • Imparts hot tack and heat sealability in hot melt adhesives and improves adhesion to substrates
  • Improves hot tack and bond strength in hot melt coatings
  • Improves surface gloss and clarity in packaging appearance
  • Increases gloss, transparency, and adhesion as a modifier in paraffin wax
